Harlem’s New Studio Museum Set For 2018

Harlem’s Studio Museum is one of Manhattan’s best-kept secrets. The museum has been dedicated to exhibiting work by artists of African descent since it was founded in 1968. And now, for its 50th anniversary, the museum is breaking ground on a brand-new building. The new facility will house the The Studio Museum’s permanent collection as well as a rotating collection of work by artists participating in its renowned residency program. Another fresh presence in the neighborhood is The Rennie, a collection of new condos for sale in Harlem. Located just 10 short blocks north of The Studio Museum, the building is also a celebration of the rich local culture: The Rennie is named after the historic Renaissance Ballroom and Casino, where a local basketball team, The Rens, played home games in the neighborhood from the 1920s through the 1940s.
